Spencer's Uncle JB & Aunt Diana paid us a visit this weekend! They live in Houston, TX part of the year and decided to explore parts of Texas that they've never been to. One stop on their list...El Paso! Spencer and I were a little nervous about showing them around El Paso because we haven't done too much exploring ourselves. However, I must admit that this weekend was the best experience of El Paso we've had to date!
Saturday we spent the day touring and sight seeing. We began our morning by touring Fort Bliss and Biggs Army Airfield. One nice surprise was touring "Old Fort Bliss"; it consisted of old adobe buildings with a tour inside of life in the Army way back when! Then we headed to the Wyler Aerial Tramway in El Paso. You drive up a very steep road and arrive at the parking lot which is elevated 4,692 feet! Then you purchase your tickets and hop into a gondola which is attached to a 2,600 ft long steel cable and take the 4 minute ride to the top of Ranger Peak (5,632 ft above sea level). You can hang around up top as long as you want and visit the gift shop and look down at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Mexico, and New Mexico. Then you take the 4 minute ride back down! It was a really cool experience; check out the pictures!
Sunday JB & Spencer played golf. So...when the men play golf, what do the women usually do? You're right; we go SHOPPING! Diana and I went to Old Mesilla, New Mexico which is only 30 miles from us. In Old Mesilla we went to the Plaza which consists of a large square of shops, cafes, and restaurants. We had a pleasant day in and out of all the shops looking at the Mexican jewelry, pottery, rugs, clothing, etc. The turquoise jewelry and colorful Mexican pottery were my favorite; it was all so beautiful! I can't wait to go back. :-)
Thank you Uncle JB & Aunt Diana for visiting us; we had a wonderful weekend!!!
